Australian government approves 312 MW Wimmera Plains Energy Facility

The Australian government has approved the Wimmera Plains Energy Facility, a 312 MW wind farm project in Victoria, located 10 km northeast of Horsham. This facility will generate enough clean energy to power 202,000 homes and will feature 52 wind turbines connected to an existing 220 kV transmission line. Additionally, the project includes a 100 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) capable of storing up to 400 MWh of dispatchable energy. The facility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1.2 million tonnes of CO₂ annually, equivalent to removing 370,000 cars from the roads each year.
