Adani Solar Energy AP Eight Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), commissioned the 250 MW Kadapa Grid-Connected Solar PV Power Project in Andhra Pradesh on March 8, 2025.
The project originated from a 2018 auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) under the National Solar Mission (NSM) Phase II, Batch IV, Tranche XV. SB Energy initially won the bid for 250 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.7 per kWh before being acquired by AGEL. The project was developed on a build, own, and operate (BOO) basis.
This solar plant is part of the larger 1,000 MW Kadapa Ultra Mega Solar Park Project at Mylavaram Mandal, implemented by Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Private Limited (APSPCL). APSPCL, a joint venture of SECI, Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO), and New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (NREDCAP), has been designated as the Solar Power Park Developer (SPPD) by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Juniper Green Energy Private Limited also commissioned a 100 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, on March 10, 2025. Half of the power generated from this merchant project will be supplied to Bhutan during the winter season.
Meanwhile, WAA Solar Limited has commissioned a cumulative 14.96 MW/21.747 MWp of decentralised solar power projects under Component C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) program across various locations in Gujarat.
In May 2024, WAA Solar received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL) to develop 47.5 MW decentralised solar power projects across 14 locations in Gujarat, quoting a tariff of Rs 3 per kWh. PGVCL had invited bids for these projects in February 2023.
