JSW Energy Limited has completed the acquisition of KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited (KMPCL) for the 3,600 MW Akaltara (Nariyara) Thermal Power Project at a cost of Rs 160.84 billion.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved JSW Energy’s acquisition of a 100% stake in KMPCL through its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Thermal Energy One Limited, last week.
The thermal power project, located in Nariyara, Akaltara, Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh, has an operational capacity of 1,800 MW. The power generated is supplied to distribution utilities in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh.
KMPCL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV), entered the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in April 2022.
