RWE and TotalEnergies have chosen the port of Eemshaven in the Dutch North Sea as the assembly and construction base for their joint offshore wind project, OranjeWind.

Located in the northern Groningen province, Eemshaven will serve as the hub for turbine assembly and construction activities in collaboration with Buss Terminal Eemshaven.

Construction at the offshore site is set to begin in early 2026, with turbine components and inter-array cabling to be offloaded, stored, and pre-assembled at the terminal.

The monopile foundations will be directly transported to the offshore site from Sif’s Rotterdam facility.

Turbine installation is scheduled for early 2027, with full commissioning expected by the end of that year.

OranjeWind is expected to generate 3 terawatt hours (TWh) annually, enough to power one million Dutch households with green electricity.

Vestas will supply 53 15MW turbines, while Sif will produce monopiles and secondary steel components.

The Jan De Nul Group will handle the transportation and installation of foundations and turbines, while TKF will supply inter-array cables, with DEME managing their installation and secondary steel components.

Grid operator TenneT will oversee the offshore grid connection and export to the onshore substation in Wijk aan Zee.
