Greenko Group, a leading renewable energy company in India, has appointed AFRY to provide detailed design engineering services for Rajasthan’s 1.8GW Shahpur pumped hydro energy storage project.
The Shahpur pumped storage project is integral to Greenko’s strategy to drive the energy transition through large-scale, integrated renewable projects with advanced energy storage solutions.
AFRY will provide detailed design, construction supervision, and on-site engineering support for the project.
The company’s managing director, Sai Seela, noted the project’s significance for renewable energy development in the region, calling it a testament to AFRY’s expertise in accelerating the energy transition.
Greenko had previously led a major integrated renewable energy storage project at Pinnapuram, which combined 3,000MW of solar, 550MW of wind, and 1,680MW of pumped hydro with a storage cycle of four hours, twice daily.
