Statkraft has been chosen to negotiate a grant of up to €107 million from the EU Innovation Fund for its project, which includes a 200 MW electrolysis plant and a 50 MW heat pump system. The project has the potential to produce 20,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen and 50,000 MWh of green heat annually, supporting greenhouse gas reduction initiatives in Europe.
Statkraft has also signed letters of intent with potential customers for green hydrogen and district heating in Emden, and will soon negotiate the grant terms with the EU. Additionally, the company is progressing with a hydrogen pilot project—a 10 MW electrolyser at Emden—with an investment decision anticipated this year. This pilot aims to support hydrogen filling stations in the region, enhancing sustainable energy solutions.
Earlier this month, Statkraft submitted a planning application for the 2.1 GW Baltic Offshore Delta North wind farm in Sweden’s economic zone, about 100 km east of Stockholm.
