JSW subsidiary signs pumped hydro storage deal with MSEDCL

JSW Energy PSP Two, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed an energy storage facility agreement (ESFA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh of pumped hydro energy storage. The agreement follows the letter of intent received on 01 October 2024.

Under the ESFA, the company will supply energy storage capacity for 40 years and receive a fixed capacity charge of Rs 8.47 million per MW annually.

The Bhavali pumped hydro project, located in the Nashik and Thane districts of Maharashtra, will feature an eight-hour discharge capacity with up to five hours of continuous discharge. It is set to be commissioned in 48 months.
