China develops world’s first 30MW-class pure hydrogen gas turbine

A China-based firm has successfully ignited the world’s first 30MW-class pure hydrogen gas turbine, called Jupiter I. Developed by Mingyang Group and several research teams, the turbine offers a significant solution for renewable energy storage by converting hydrogen back into electricity during peak hours. The turbine addresses the challenge of renewable energy waste during off-peak hours, converting excess electricity into hydrogen for storage. Vestas enters Asia Pacific with wind project order in Japan

Denmark’s Vestas has secured an order to supply 21 V236-15.0 MW turbines for the 315 MW Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Wind Project in Japan’s Akita Prefecture.  The deal includes a long-term service agreement to optimise turbine performance. This marks Vestas’ first firm order for its V236-15.0 MW turbine in the Asia-Pacific region and its first project under Japan’s offshore wind auctions based on the Renewable Energy Sea Area Utilization Act.

Longroad Energy signs PPA with Meta for 300 MWac 1000 Mile solar project

Longroad Energy has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Meta for the entire output of its 300 MWac 1000 Mile solar project in Yoakum County, Texas.  The energy produced will be supplied to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) grid and support Meta’s data center operations. The 1000 Mile solar project, Longroad’s first in the SPP region, is expected to commence commercial operations in 2026.

Masdar has expanded its footprint in Europe by completing two acquisitions in the Iberian Peninsula. Along with its institutional partners, Masdar acquired Saeta Yield from Brookfield Renewable Partners for an enterprise value of €1.2 billion and an equity value of €696 million.  Saeta’s portfolio includes 745 MW of wind assets, with 538 MW in Spain, 144 MW in Portugal, and 63 MW of solar PV assets in Spain, along with a 1.6 GW development pipeline….

The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has received a construction licence from the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) for the 1.2 GW Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5 (C-5) in Punjab.
